IT Administrator (South West)

Location: South West 

Reports to: Technical Manager 

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 

 

As IT Administrator, you will have a fundamental understanding of IT and IT business processes, along with an interest in modern technology. 

You will need to possess strong communication skills and have the ability to troubleshoot issues, assess various solutions, and resolve problems efficiently whilst on the phone. 

You will have the ability to learn quickly and pick up the skills required for this role either by on-the-job training, formal training courses or self-learning. 

 

Key responsibilities: 

• Log IT service desk support tickets taken by phone. 

• Speak with end users on the phone to resolve service desk ticket 

• Gather Information and resolve technical issues, escalating as required. 

• Produce documentation and update documentation as required when changes are made. 

• Build new Laptops, mobile phones and tablets and issue to end users. 

• Ensure new starters get a thorough IT induction and assist with onboarding. 

• Occasional site visits to troubleshoot laptops, printers, routers and Starlink hardware etc. 

• Facilitate new site setups for sales and build, co-ordinate with 3rd party install teams. 

• Assist with IT projects on site, helping with regional IT projects. 

• Install or change software to fix issues (Windows patching, PDQ deployment). 

• Remotely access client’s hardware or software to make changes and fix problems. 

• Provide technical assistance for general end user questions and problems. 

• Desk-side assistance as required via regional office or site visits. 

• Resolve problems BAU, 1st line issues, i.e. Hard Hat, printing, laptops, 365 software, Starlink etc. 

• Ensure all IT processes and policies are adhered to and are kept up to date. 

• Assist with additional duties and tasks as assigned by the Head of IT. 

 

Desirable skills and experience: 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members, stakeholders, and suppliers. 

• The ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines and objectives. 

 

Required technical knowledge: 

• Microsoft 365. 

• Windows Server technologies. 

• Desktop support Windows 10,11 etc. 

• Basic understanding of Networking and SDWAN (Cisco Meraki & Unifi Preferred). 

• Basic understanding of Virtualisation (VMWare preferred). 

• Cyber Security in an enterprise environment (Sophos, Forcepoint preferred). 

• Telephony (Teams & 8x8) and Mobile device management. 

 

Training: 

• ITIL, Office 365 Admin, Comp TIA. 

 

Essential requirements: 

• Full UK driving licence. 

• Willingness to travel as needed.
