Helping Hands from the Hub Team

Our Warrington based Hub team lent a helping hand by sprucing up the play areas at St Peter’s Catholic Primary School in Woolston after a plea for help from staff.

Twelve members of staff grabbed tools and paintbrushes and spent a day doing all the jobs that the school staff did not have time to do!

While pupils were on half term they transformed the foundation year’s play area, painting and varnishing play equipment, updating the reading hut and garden centre and planting bedding plants for a splash more colour.

They also weeded and replanted the prayer garden and did a general weed and tidy up at the front of the school.

It was part of our 50th Birthday Helping Hands initiative, offering a year of good deeds to the communities in which we work and every member of staff can give back a day of their work time to their favourite charity, or they can choose to help out at one of our many organised events, supporting a charity, school or local cause throughout the year.

Like St Peter’s it does not have to be one major job – lots of little jobs can add up to making a big difference.

Wain Homes Marketing Director, Jo Scott, said: “We really do care about the communities we work in and it was lovely to be able to offer a Helping Hand to this school and make a difference to the children’s play areas. It was good to work as a team and we look forward to working on more projects over the coming months.”
