WHY CAM IS A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE
Cam offers all the benefits of village living, including a welcoming local community, a laid-back pace of life, and the ease of having everything within quick reach. Cam runs alongside the market town of Dursley, with residents typically treating the two as one single area. Both Cam and Dursley have an active social calendar, with markets, live music, talks, and more.
Despite being a village, Cam is one of the largest in Gloucestershire, and actually has more residents than next-door Dursley. It’s packed with amenities too. Cam has a centre with local and national shops, a post office, cafes and restaurants, and two pubs. Cam might offer peace and tranquillity, but it’s a thriving village with plenty going on.
If you have kids, or are planning to, then you’ll be happy to know that Cam has three local primary schools – Cam Hopton Church of England Primary School, Cam Everlands Primary School, and Cam Woodfield Junior School, all of which are rated as “Good” by Ofsted. Dursley has two other primary schools – Dursley Church of England Primary Academy and Coaley Church of England Primary Academy – both also rated “Good”. The local secondary school, Rednock School, is located in Dursley, and is also rated “Good” by Ofsted.
One of Cam’s greatest selling points is its stunning location. It lies right on the edge of the Cotswolds, with the southern boundaries of the village extending into it. You can walk, cycle, or drive into one of the most famous and most beautiful landscapes in the country. Here you can explore, hike, ride horses, and more. The River Severn Estuary lies to the north of Cam, offering more stunning landscapes, including the nearby Slimbridge Wetland Centre.
