WHY FREMINGTON IS A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE

A new build house in Fremington offers you the chance to live in a scenic village with a deep history. Fremington looks out onto the River Taw and is set in rolling Devonshire countryside. It’s a village with plenty of historic charm, with period buildings dating as far back as mediaeval times.

Whilst life in Fremington is generally slower paced and more reflective and peaceful compared to city living, the village has a thriving local community with events held throughout the year. Fremington has two great pubs (The Fox and the New Inn), an active village hall, plus local groups like the 1st Fremington Air Scouts.

Of course, sitting less than a mile west of Barnstaple (one of the UK’s most sought-after towns), a home in Fremington gives easy access to all of Barnstable’s sights and amenities. These include some excellent shops and restaurants, Queen’s Theatre, Barnstaple Retail Park, and Tarka Leisure Centre.

The village has a primary school, changed to an academy in 2020, called Fremington Primary School (as of the time of writing, it’s not yet been rated by Ofsted). Two more primary schools are found within three miles of Fremington, and have catchment areas that cover part of the village – Roundswell Community Primary Academy and Sticklepath Community Primary Academy, both rated as “Good” by Ofsted. Three state secondary schools are found within five miles of Fremington – Braunton Academy, Pilton Community College, and The Park Community School. All three are rated “Good” by Ofsted.

One of the greatest draws of living in Fremington is the village’s access to some of the best scenery you’ll find in the country, offering hiking, swimming, surfing, or simply the chance to relax in a spectacular setting. Two great beaches are found just a few miles downriver from Fremington, Westward Ho! Beach and Saunton Sands. The North Devon Coast AONB is within easy reach of the village too. Fremington sits on the popular Tarka Trail walking and cycling route, whilst both Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks are a short drive away.
