WHY PADSTOW IS A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE

Padstow is one of the most sought after towns in Cornwall, and with one look at its picturesque harbour and beautiful nearby beaches it’s easy to see why. As you’d expect with a traditional Cornish fishing town, Padstow has a working harbour with fishing vessels coming and going throughout the day, keeping this old industry thriving. But what really sets Padstow apart is its culinary credentials, with TV chef Rick Stein first opening a restaurant here in 1975. Having holidayed here in his youth, Stein has made Padstow his culinary base with four restaurants, a cookery school and accommodation in the town.

Not just a foodie’s paradise, Padstow offers plenty for families with school age children looking for a slice of Cornish living. There are four schools in and around the town rated as “Good” by Ofsted. They are St Minver Primary School, St Merryn School, Trevisker Primary School and St Breock Primary School. Residents of Padstow also have plenty to enjoy in the great outdoors right on their doorstep too. The Camel Trail is ideal to explore on two wheels, with the 17 mile route promising stunning scenery, amazing wildlife and little in the way of inclines. Local beaches include the fantastic Constantine Bay Beach, Treyarnon Bay Beach, Harlyn Bay, Tregirls Beach and Porthcothan Beach to name just a few. And with this being Cornwall, and with Newquay close by, there are plenty of options for surfers, whether beginner or professional. The harbour is great to explore on foot and there is much in the way of independent shops, cafes and restaurants to enjoy.
