WHY TRURO IS A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE
Truro is a city with real character, blending modern amenities with history and that unique, laid-back Cornish state of mind. Truro offers everything you’d look for in a city, including great job prospects, hospitals, schools, libraries and museums. But it’s on the smaller side, meaning it’s easy to get around, including by foot.
Despite its convenient size, Truro is a bustling city with plenty going on. Its centre offers an array of shops, both local and national, plus a fantastic range of restaurants, bars, pubs, music venues and more. With a packed calendar of plays, events, and festivals – including the Truro City Carnival and the spectacular annual winter City of Lights parade – Truro always has something going on.
Truro offers a range of excellent local schools for children of all ages. The city has 10 nurseries and pre-school centres. Of Truro’s seven primary schools, two are rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted, whilst four are rated as “Good”. Truro has three state secondary age schools, with Penair School and Richard Lander School both rated as “Good” by Ofsted, and Truro and Penwith College rated “Outstanding”. Truro is also close to a range of universities, including Falmouth University and the University of Exeter’s Penryn Campus.
A base in the capital puts all of Cornwall within easy reach, including gorgeous St Ives, vibrant Falmouth and Newquay, and sites like Tintagel Castle, the Eden Project, the Minack Theatre, and more. You can easily spend the morning in one location, the afternoon in the second, and the evening in another.
Of course, we can’t forget about Cornwall’s stunning countryside. A house in Truro means you could easily head out into the wild outdoors, including to world famous Bodmin Moor, the Lizard Peninsula, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, and the county’s 400+ beaches. Whether you’re a hiker, a surfer, or a beach relaxer, Cornwall more than has you covered.
