North West Colleagues Splash Out for Mind
Our North West-based colleagues had an ‘oar-some’ time taking part in a dragon boat race to raise money for the mental health charity Mind.
Part of the Northwich River Festival, the dragon boat race took place on the River Weaver in Cheshire and The Wainmakers – our intrepid team of 10 – achieved a respectable mid-table finish, but more importantly raised an impressive £1,050 to donate to Mind.
Skippered by our sales office manager Wendy Dolan, the team also included Claire Campbell, Rebecca Barrett, Rich Hall, Dawn Ditch, Lauren Balfour, Andrew Dickenson, Jack Homan, Tom Murphy and Connor Elms and we’re pleased to report that everybody made it safely back to dry land.
Wendy said: “Mind is a charity close to the hearts of our North West team so we were thrilled to break the £1000 barrier for them at this year’s River Festival.
“The charity is focussed on supporting those living with mental health problems, and providing support and information to their friends and families, and their mission is not to stop until everybody experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.
“And that is all the inspiration we needed to paddle hard and do our bit to raise some much needed funds that we know will be put to incredible use to make sure people aren’t being left behind.
“Well done to all our team, it was hard work but great fun and all for a fantastic cause.”
