Roger and Judie enjoying new life in South Molton
Many people move home to be nearer to their jobs and in the case of Roger Jones, buying a new home at our Molbrook development has resulted in work literally being on the doorstep.
Roger and his wife Judie moved into their new home in South Molton, Devon, less than a month ago, after relocating from Bridgwater in Somerset. The couple fell in love with the Molbrook development after visiting whilst holidaying in the North Devon region.
Deciding this was to become their home, Roger soon started work for the painting contractors employed on the site, so not only is he a new resident but he has also painted lots of his neighbours’ new homes too.
Roger said “I started working at Molbrook months before we moved in, which meant doing a 100-mile round journey every day to work, but I loved the site and location so much it was worth it, knowing we would be soon living here ourselves.
“Now that I am here I don’t really have any excuses for being late for work!”
The couple were won over by South Molton’s vibrant range of independent shops and idyllic countryside location, just 30 minutes from the coast.
Judie explains: “We instantly felt right at home in South Molton; we loved the market and the local pubs and cafes and also a range of lovely independent businesses, such as a butcher and a honey farm. We think it is important to support local businesses and there are so many welcoming places to visit with our dog Bella. It is nice that Wain Homes also sponsors the local food festival in the town.”
Earlier in the year, Roger and Judie were worried their move might never happen, after the chain their former home was in collapsed.
Judie said: “This is when Wain Homes’ team stepped in and pulled out every stop to help us realise our dream. Karen and Gloria, the sales executives, and Sarah, the sales manager, were incredible, reassuring us that we could do this when we were visualising never getting here. They looked after us so well, believed in us and went the extra mile to ensure the move became reality.”
Roger and Judie settled on a four-bedroom Haversham home with Judie impressed by the large gardens and kitchen with grey quartz worktop and an island, and Roger won over by the overall build quality of the new homes and the stylish use of materials in keeping with the semi-rural location.
The couple were also impressed with the high level of inclusive specification, with their new home featuring integrated kitchen appliances, carpets and flooring and oak-finished doors.
Roger and Judie also enjoy watching the growing community being created at Molbrook. Judie explains: “There is a nice mix of young families, older people and those in between and everyone is very friendly and welcoming. In fact, I am going out for the first time later with a ladies group of neighbours who have come together under the name “Wain’s World” for a drink and a meal; that’s the type of friendly community we have here.”
The couple are now looking forward to celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary next year in what they feel is their forever home at Molbrook.
“This is the first time we have had a house just to ourselves” explains Roger. “We’re looking forward to exploring Exmoor in the spring and relaxing more in the many pubs and cafes, just people watching and watching the world go by.”
Any regrets Judie? “No, none whatsoever. I’m having the time of my life.”
