Shirley & Kevin found their kind of perfect at Molbrook

Kevin and Shirley Higgs had always planned to move to Devon and are now living out their dream at our Molbrook development in South Molton.

Shirley explains: “We are from Andover but just love Devon and knew we wanted to enjoy our retirement in the county.

“A friend was visiting relatives in Ilfracombe and saw the development, knew it would be perfect, so brought all the brochures back for us and that was it!

“South Molton is the perfect location. It is set back from all the touristy hubbub of Devon yet in 30 minutes you can be anywhere in the county. We downsized slightly – losing a separate dining room and a study – but fell in love with the Newton house type and chose a plot with a large back garden.

“The open plan kitchen/dining/ family space is wonderful but my favourite spot is the big landing where I can sit in my Gran’s old chair and look out to the hills!”

The couple moved from Andover, selling their existing home within 48 hours and moved into a rental property for eight months before their new home was complete.

Shirley said: “It meant that we could secure the house type and the plot we wanted and could pack up and move without being pressured.

“We are not big DIYers and knew we wanted a new home that would not need any maintenance and would also be very energy efficient.

“Kevin took early retirement so we don’t need a study and in reality we only used the dining room at Christmas or celebrations!

“And we absolutely love it. It is everything we expected and more. We have a small dog and after supper each evening head out to explore and enjoy the beach or the surrounding countryside. 

“Everyone is so friendly we are already making new friends. The decorator for Wain Homes has also bought a house on here and after coming to do some work for us we are now going to all meet up for a coffee!

“In fact, the entire Wain Homes team have all been absolutely wonderful. From Gloria and Karen in the sales team to every single person on site, you cannot fault them. Nothing has been too much trouble.

“The build quality is also excellent and you can tell that everyone has a real pride in their job – they care that they are building people’s homes and they want them to be the best.

“It sounds corny but we do feel so very lucky to be here!”
