Site Acquisition Sees Wain Homes Return to Whitchurch

Our North West region will build 70 new homes off Mile Bank Road in Whitchurch, Shropshire, after completing the acquisition of land from developer Central & Country. 

Previously owned by Homes England, the site comprises a former dairy premises and pasture land extending to approximately 5.8ha to the north east of Whitchurch town centre, and will feature a range of two to five-bedroom homes surrounded by open fields.

The first 13 plots will be built to designs from an existing planning application with Wain Homes replanning the remainder of the homes in its own design range. Properties will range from 772sq.ft to 1,679sq.ft.

The development, to be called Buttercup View, sees Wain Homes return to Whitchurch after successfully completing sales at its Talbot Manor scheme of 90 homes on Alport Road – less than a mile from the new site – earlier this year.   

All the homes will feature Wain Homes’ new all-inclusive specification, which includes fitted wardrobes to the principal bedroom; carpets and Amtico flooring throughout; fitted dishwasher and washing machine; oak finish doors; vanity units; drencher showers, and turf to both front and rear garden all as standard.

“The opportunity, therefore, to come back to this part of Whitchurch and take on a development with existing outline planning was a golden opportunity and we can’t wait to begin building homes which offer lovely countryside views but also have all the amenities of a thriving town centre close at hand.”

Construction work on the new development is expected to start in September this year with the first completions expected in April 2026. The entire build duration is planned to last for approximately 19 months.
