Trading Spreadsheets for Safari – Wain Homes Hits Paignton Zoo
It wasn’t your average day at work for four of our South West colleagues who spent the day working next to a family of giraffes at Paignton Zoo in Devon.
Shaun Jones, Rebecca Cotton, Bethany Rook and Tiegan Flay were giving the Zoo a helping hand to create a new sheep enclosure.
Tiegan, our regional office manager and PA to the managing director, said: “We were helping out right opposite the giraffes so had the privilege of seeing these wonderful creatures all day and learning more about them when the zoo keepers gave an information talk.
“It was definitely a different day to being in the office and really rewarding.”
The team got involved clearing ivy and weeds from the new sheep enclosure site then sanding and painting woodwork.
Tiegan added: “It is a busy, friendly zoo and a popular attraction for locals and visitors alike and it was a privilege to be able to help.
“At the end of the day we had some time to explore more of the zoo and saw lots of the animals including crocodiles, lions, tigers, leopards, a variety of monkeys as well as the beautiful flamingos.”
Zoe Atwell from The Wild Planet Trust, who helped organise the day, said: “Thank you so much to the Wain Homes team for your Helping Hands. The maintenance team was really impressed with how hard everyone worked. As a charity we really value the additional resource and help.”
Helping Hands is our community support initiative, which sees colleagues given time out of the office to support charities and good causes in their local area.
