Wain Homes Donate £1,000 to a Team of Swindon Cyclists

A team of cyclists from Swindon tackled a sponsored ride in style thanks to a £1,000 donation from Wain Homes.

We bought jerseys for the crew as they cycled the 145 miles from London to Amsterdam as part of the annual Football to Amsterdam trip in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

Wain Homes got involved thanks to joiner Dave Salter, one of the contrators at our Tadpole Garden Village development in Swindon.

He said: “I mentioned to the contracts manager Nat Payne that I was doing the challenge and asked him to join us! Sadly I could not persuade him to climb on a bike but he arranged very generous sponsorship and bought team jerseys for us to wear along the way.”

It is the third year that Dave, who lives in Swindon, has taken part in the challenge and this year he recruited his dad, brother and cousin to ride along with him.

The two-day ride goes from the Olympic Velodrome in London to Harwich then via ferry to the Hook of Holland and onto Amsterdam and was started by cancer survivor Phil Coates who also donned a Wain Homes jersey to show his appreciation.

Wain Homes contracts manager Nat Payne said: “Wain Homes is proud to be involved in such a great cause, helping to raise awareness which in turn will hopefully save lives. Well done to the team for completing the challenge.”
