Wain Homes is committed to making a positive difference on how we influence our planet, so we love the many different ways our supply chain helps us achieve our environmental goals.
When Launceston-based Cornwall Carpets & Flooring fits lovely new carpets for our customers’ homes in the South West, there are usually some off-cuts left over which have previously gone to waste.
This month, we were delighted to see the first shipment of waste carpet being taken by the company to be baled and sent to be recycled at Innovate Recycle in Northamptonshire.
Innovate Recycle is the UK’s first true carpet recycling facility, which removes material from landfill or incineration and reclaims its component materials for re-use in a wide range of industry applications, such as car manufacturing and 3D Printing.
Andy Hardy, founder of Cornwall Carpets & Flooring, said: “We have been recycling vinyl flooring for a number of years, but carpet waste often ended up going to incineration.
“Innovate Recycling offers us a circular economy, turning waste back into new products safely and with no environmental impact.
“We are always looking for ways to help our clients achieve their environmental objectives and we will be following the progress of the first shipment of Wain Homes’ carpets with interest as it progresses through its recycling journey.”
This is great news for all our customers who care as much as we do about our planet and is a excellent example of our suppliers playing a crucial role in supporting our sustainability strategy.
