Energy Saving Benefits of a New Home

Dr Phil Clements and his wife relocated from a three-bedroom bungalow in Salisbury to our Lister Gardens development at Cam, near Dursley, to be closer to family – but the added benefit has been a massive saving on energy costs.

Dr Clements, a retired university lecturer, explained: “We knew people who already lived at Lister Gardens so we knew the development and the quality of Wain Homes and we liked the area.

“We chose a four-bedroom detached Watergate property and moved in in September. One of the most noticeable things is how easy it is to keep warm. I looked in the loft and was surprised by the depth of insulation, it is obviously a priority to help make the homes energy efficient.

“And really it is so well insulated we have not yet had to put the heating on upstairs at all – and the room temperatures have not dropped below 20c!

“Our electricity bill seems to be considerably less than what we used to pay in our 1960s bungalow. That makes a dramatic difference.

“It is also nice to know that nothing needs doing to the house, and we actually have more space than before – for the first time we can allocate a room as a study as well as spare bedrooms for the grand children to come and stay.”

The couple are also taking advantage of Lister Gardens’ lovely location, on the edge of the Cotswolds with lively towns like Stroud within easy reach and lots of country walks.

Dr Clements added: “The location is perfect. Our son and his family live in Bristol and we can walk five minutes from our front door to the station and catch a direct train for a 25-minute journey into the city.

“We are enjoying an easier and more convenient life with the added benefit of energy saving!”
