Super League Star Helps Celebrate Wain Homes Rugby Sponsorship

A Wigan Warriors star turned from wingman to kitman for the day to present Wigan St Patricks Rugby League Under 9s with their new Wain Homes sponsored shirts.

Liam Marshall was joined by our Field Sales Manager, Sandy O’Callaghan, and Regional Marketing Co-ordinator, Nathan Bullough, to present the new strip to the excited teammates.

Renowned for his acrobatic diving style when scoring tries, Liam made his debut for Wigan Warriors in 2017, having begun his rugby journey playing as a junior with Wigan St Patricks.

Lisa Lunn, U/9 team manager at Wigan St Patricks, said: “We want to say a huge thank you to Wain Homes for sponsoring the team this year.

“We rely on this type of support from the local community and their generous donation means we will look as stylish and smart as the rugby we try to play!

“Having Liam hand out the new strip was the icing on the cake for our boys and girls who were already thrilled to be receiving a brand new kit proudly bearing the Wain Homes name.”

Based at Clarington Park on Harper Street, Wigan St Patricks Rugby Club is possibly the most famous amateur rugby club in the world, dating back to 1910, and along with men’s and women’s senior teams, currently provides a safe and enjoyable opportunity for hundreds of local children, aged from five upwards, to take part in sport.

Sandy said: “St Patricks is a brilliant club with a track record of producing great rugby players, just like Liam.

“Wain Homes built its first ever home close to this club some 50 years ago, so we are proud to put our name on the shirts of the next generation of upcoming rugby stars from this region.

“What clubs like St Patricks do for local children cannot be underestimated and they help to make this community a great place to live. We will be watching the U9’s progress with great interest and wish them all the best for the season.”

Wain Homes is currently building a development of new family homes at Rectory Woods on Rectory Lane in nearby Standish and we hope some of our new residents will enjoy playing and watching rugby league at Wigan St Patricks.
