Wain Homes has secured detailed planning consent for a new development on previously developed land to the west of Coventry, the second planning consent achieved by our West Midlands region in the past month.
Details of the design led scheme off Banner Lane were praised by the City Council’s planning committee, which unanimously approved the 119-home development.
Wain Homes committed to purchase the 12-acre site last year with an outline planning consent and revised the designs to incorporate a mix of accommodation, including apartments, bungalows, properties for first time buyers and a range of family homes.
The site was previously occupied by a scientific instruments manufacturer which has relocated to a dedicated business park in the city, leaving the site vacant.
The development is the latest in a number of recent success stories for our recently established West Midlands region, which has accomplished a series of land acquisitions and planning consents. The region now has a pipeline of 820 homes (459 of which have consent) across nine development sites with a combined GDV of £245m.
Wain Homes West Midlands managing director, Andy Peters, said: “The comments made at committee reflect the care and expertise we bring to the design and layout of our schemes and we are delighted to receive unanimous approval for the new homes off Banner Lane. We set out to create a truly design led scheme and the comments demonstrate we have achieved exactly that.
“The consent follows approval earlier in March for our site at Bordesley Hall outside Alvechurch which again shows our versatility and scope as an ambitious privately-owned developer prepared to go the extra mile to deliver the best new neighbourhoods where people want to live.”
