Telford continues to be a popular place to live in the UK and it’s clear to see why. The biggest town in Shropshire was named in the top 10 places to live in the UK by Rightmove and it continues to attract more and more people to the area. Families with school age children will be spoilt for choice with the selection of primary and secondary schools in Telford, with a total of 38 rated as either “Outstanding” or “Good” by Ofsted. Those rated as “Outstanding” include Thomas Telford School, Newdale Primary School, St George’s Church of England Primary School, and William Reynolds Primary School.
The family-friendly nature of Telford doesn’t stop there, with there being plenty of green space in and around the town. This includes Telford Town Park – the local park and Nature Reserve was voted as the UK’s best park by Fields in Trust in 2015. In 2021, the local council also pledged to improve the green spaces in the town with £2 million to enhance both Local Nature Reserves and Green Guarantee Sites.
Just south of the town is the world famous Ironbridge Gorge – known as a symbol of the Industrial Revolution, the UNESCO World Heritage Site includes a museum and of course the Ironbridge itself. Other family-friendly attractions in the area include Telford Steam Railway, Telford Snowboard and Ski Centre, Wonderland and Telford Ice Rink.

Telford also has great transport links. Situated close to the A5 and M54, the town is well connected to the UK’s road network. Birmingham International Airport is around 50 minutes away too. The town has two main train stations – Telford Central and Oakengates – which offer good connections to Shrewsbury and Birmingham New Street.
