WHY MIDDLETON IS A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE

Middleton rose to prominence in the Industrial Revolution as a rural mill town where silk and cotton were made. Whilst it's now a leafy suburb of Greater Manchester, Middleton has retained much of its traditional charm. The town’s historic centre, called the ‘Golden Cluster’, features a wealth of period and blue plaque buildings, including St. Leonard's Church and the Old Boar's Head Inn, a pub over 500 years old.

Although steeped in history, Middleton is a thoroughly modern town, boasting first-rate amenities. Middleton Shopping Centre offers a wealth of shops, plus you’ll find a wide selection of excellent cafes and restaurants. Middleton Arena is a modern, £13 million sports and leisure centre with an extensive gym, swimming pools, indoor courts, and a 500 seat auditorium that regularly hosts concerts and performances.

If you’re planning to buy a new home as a family, you’ll be pleased to know that Middleton has an excellent selection of local schools. There are 49 primary schools within three miles of Middleton, six of which are rated as “Outstanding” by Ofsted, and 35 as “Good.” Seven of Middleton’s 14 secondary schools are rated as “Good”, whilst North Ridge High School is rated as “Outstanding.”

Of course, one of the main attractions of a new home in Middleton is its easy access to Manchester city centre. All that one of the UK’s greatest cities has to offer is just a short car, bus or train journey away, placing Manchester’s shopping, attractions and job opportunities very much at the foot of your door. A home in Middleton also puts you in quick reach of Rochdale and Oldham too.

As well as all the benefits of town and city living, a base in Middleton also gives you access to plenty of greenery and rolling countryside. Middleton offers a selection of parks, three golf courses, plus Alkrington Woods Nature Reserve. A short journey outside of Middleton, you’ll find the Peak District National Park and the Forest of Bowland AONB.
