WHY BODMIN IS A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE

Bodmin is one of the oldest settlements in Britain and is a location rich in history and myth. But Bodmin is a thoroughly modern town today, although one that retains its traditional charm. The town is full of characteristic Victorian and Elizabethan buildings, as well as a thriving town centre with plenty of local shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants.

Of course, Bodmin is famous for the spectacular Bodmin Moor, Cornwall’s largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – it’s 208 square kilometres of rugged countryside offering some of the UK’s best hiking, sights and wild living ponies. A base in Bodmin also gives easy access to all the countryside that Cornwall has to offer, including over 400 beaches.

For families looking to make the move to Bodmin, the town offers some excellent schools. Of Bodmin’s six local primaries, five are rated as “Good” by Ofsted. Bodmin has three secondary schools, with Callywith College rated as “Outstanding” and North Cornwall Alternative Provision Academy rated as “Good”.

Situated in the centre of Cornwall, Bodmin places all the county has to offer in quick reach, making it an ideal location for day trips and a perfect town to commute from. Cornwall’s capital, Truro, is just over 20 miles away, whilst Newquay and St Austell are less than a 30 minute drive, with Falmouth around one hour by road.
