Shepton Mallet is a welcoming town with a vibrant local community. It boasts a thriving town centre, along Town Street and the High Street, with plenty of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and businesses, plus a Friday market and larger monthly Sunday market. The community hosts many yearly events, including a large carnival and masque celebration in November that forms the 5th event in the West Country Carnival Circuit.

Bristol is a short drive away, offering access to national rail travel, with London Paddington a little over 90 minutes by direct train. Bristol Airport also offers domestic and international flights.
