Wain Sponsors North Devon Hospice Nightwalk
A £1,000 donation from Wain Homes boosted Noth Devon Hospice’s annual Nightwalk fundraising event.
More than 1,000 women strode out under the stars along the Tarka Trail on Saturday (17 May), walking either 3 or 10 miles together from Bideford to Instow or Barnstaple, to raise vital funds for patients and families impacted by a life-limiting illness.
They were joined by Hannah Blackbourn, Victoria Goldsworthy, Tiegan Flay, Gloria O’Connell, Tracey Saunders and Suzie Wakefield from our Exeter headquarters, who also provided Wain Homes branded wristbands for event organisers to hand out to all the participants at the Event Village starting point.
Along with music, lights and entertainment along the route, which passed by our soon-to-be-launched Otters Reach development in Yelland, the walk also featured daredevil fire entertainers and a groovy silent disco.
Our Wain walkers finished the full 10-mile route in three-and-a-half hours. Sales and marketing coordinator, Suzie Wakefield, said: “Wain Homes’ £1,000 sponsorship will make a huge difference to help North Devon Hospice continue to offer its care, reassurance and support for families in their time of most need.
“Nightwalk is an institution in this part of Devon and we feel privileged to have been able to play a part in helping make it a memorable experience for everyone who took part. Walking through the evening with colleagues who share our ‘One Wain’ philosophy of strength together, knowing how our donation will benefit local families, was an experience we will all cherish.”
North Devon Hospice is based in Barnstaple, close to two Wain Homes new homes developments in North Devon – Molbrook in South Molton and Kingsland in Westward Ho!
Suzie added: “As a responsible housebuilder, we take seriously our role in supporting local communities and it was an honour to do ‘our bit’ to support North Devon Hospice. The whole atmosphere was electric, congratulations to everyone who took part.”
