Wain Donation Leaves Sweet Taste for Food Market Traders

A donation from Wain Homes to the South Molton Festival of Food and Drink helped make the event the busiest on record.

Keen to support the finest local food and drink businesses in the south west, Wain Homes made a £500 donation to help pay for pre-event advertising which resulted in thousands of people flocking through the doors of the South Molton Pannier Market and led to many of the traders selling out of stock.

There were nearly 50 traders at the event on 27th April who came from as far a field as Weymouth, and local delicacies on offer included a hog roast, sausage rolls, a pizza van, pies and pastries, small batch alcohol, street food and selections of bread.

Wain Homes is currently building a collection of new homes at Molbrook in South Molton, just over half-a-mile from the Pannier Market and we were keen to support a much-loved event which has been a fixture of the South Molton calendar over a number of years.

Suzie Wakefield, regional marketing coordinator at Wain Homes said: “We attended the event and it was great to see so many people enjoying some of the region’s finest food and drink and to see the ‘sold out’ signs going up means the traders had a successful day.

“Our Molbrook development is so close to the town and events such as the Food and Drink Festival are great for our new residents to explore and enjoy right on their doorsteps so we were happy to lend our support.”

Wain Homes has now committed to making further £500 donations for the next two festivals on 27th July and 23rdNovember which will help the organisers invest in more advertising and pay for much-needed new traders’ tables.

Adam Nichols, market manager at South Molton Pannier Market, said: “Huge thanks to Wain Homes for their generous sponsorship which helped make this food market the busiest one we have ever had.”
