Wain Homes Team Help Willowbrook Hospice Transform Outdoor Patient Space

Patients and families visiting Willowbrook Hospice in Prescot, Merseyside, can now enjoy the outdoor gardens in comfort following the creation of a new seating area.

A team of six volunteers from Wain Homes –  Wendy Dolan, Karl Richmond, Suzanne Howarth, Nathan Bullough, Olly Berry and Rob Heaton – answered a call for help from the hospice and spent a day building a new patio, as well as carrying out general garden maintenance and landscaping, to enable patients and visitors to relax and enjoy the fresh air.

It is the third time volunteers from Wain Homes have visited the hospice as part of our Helping Hands initiative, which gives colleagues the opportunity to take time out of the business to support good causes in their local communities.

A previous visit saw our volunteers organise the supply and fitting of a brand new kitchen and integrated appliances after the building suffered storm damage.

Situated on Portico Lane in Prescot, Willowbrook Hospice was established in 1997 as a specialist palliative care unit for patients with complex needs.

Ian Turnbull, head of volunteering at Willowbrook Hospice, said: “It is always a pleasure to welcome the team from Wain Homes and we are grateful every time for their hard work and support.

“It was another brilliant day of teamwork, laughter, and real community spirit. Thanks to Wain Homes, our patients can continue to enjoy and benefit from our wonderful gardens all year round.”

That makes volunteering our time to support the hospice something everyone is keen to get involved with.
