Wain Homes Team Swaps Plans for Paintbrushes at Derian House Hospice

A team of volunteers from our North West headquarters spent a day sprucing up the outdoor areas of Derian House Children’s Hospice in Chorley, Lancashire.

The colleagues offered their time as part of our Helping Hands initiative, which sees team members volunteering to support charities and good causes in their local communities.

Lauren Balfour, Declan Riley, Matt Ellery, Andrew Blundell, Heather Thompson, George Wainwright, Collette Riding and Andrew Charters spent the day painting decking and fences in the hospice grounds, helping to create a welcoming outdoor space for patients and their families to enjoy.

Derian House, on Chancery Road, Astley Village, cares for more than 400 seriously ill babies, children and young people across the North West, helping them make the most of every moment.

Richard Chamberlain, regional managing director at Wain Homes, said: “I am proud of our volunteers for giving their time to support such a deserving cause.

“For more than 30 years, Derian House has helped children and young people make precious memories while providing outstanding care and support to families. We hope our teams effort will make a small difference to everyone enjoying the hospice’s outdoor space.”

Frances Lees, volunteer services coordinator at Derian House, said: “We’re so grateful to the fantastic team at Wain Homes for spending the day with us at Derian House. They rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in, helping to brighten up the outdoor spaces that mean so much to our children and families. Their hard work has made a real difference.

“It was lovely to show the team around the hospice and give them a glimpse into the care and support we provide every day. They were enthusiastic, friendly and happy to get involved from start to finish, and it was clear they genuinely cared about making a positive impact. We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part – your time, energy and kindness mean the world to us.”

Wain Homes is currently inviting requests for support from its Helping Hands scheme from charities, schools and good causes across the North West.
